Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who can become a member of the Sparta Golf Society?
A: Membership is open to current and past permanent members of staff of Communities & Local Government and the Department for Transport or their preceding departments. Contractors, consultants, agency and temporary staff may become members whilst employed with either department but membership may only continue after employment at the discretion of the Committee.

Q: What is the cost of membership?
A: Membership costs £15 a year. This is in addition to Sparta membership (£12 a year) which is a precursor to Society membership.

Q: What are the advantages of membership?
A: A full member receives substantial discount on the full cost at each event. Indeed, the savings can outweigh the cost of annual membership. In addition, a full member has priority at all events, receiving advance notice of entries. Only full members can serve on the Committee.

Q: Are there other types of membership?
A: Yes. Associate membership can be had for those who do not wish to pay the annual Society membership but are members of the Sport and Recreation Association (SPARTA) of the two departments. Associate members however will receive a reduced subsidy at events and also will not get advance notice of entries.
