Supporting the BrainsTrust in 2010

The Sparta Golf Society Charity Golf Day was held at the London Golf Club on 31 March. This year we supported the BrainsTrust in memory of a member who died of a brain tumour in 2008 and a relative of a member died of the same cause in 2009.

The BrainsTrust provides clinical care for brain tumour sufferers and providing coordinated support in the search for treatment.

There were various ways everyone could support the cause. Those who attended the golf day donated generously through entry fees, balls lost and shots in bunkers.

Alternatively, members, friends, family and colleagues helped the cause by donating via justgiving.com. This was a special web page where anyone could donate any amount which will go direct to the BrainsTrust. The trust also used our efforts to raise more funds directly.

The most popular method of donating was through our prize draw with some very good prizes on offer. The draw took place on the golf day and the full list of winners is shown opposite.

We did not stop there though. Our traditional charity day - the Summer meeting - added another £300 and another £200 was raised for two rounds at the London Club.

The grand total therefore amounts to

**£1015**

A big thanks for the generosity of all members.
