It
is with regret that we have to announce the death of John Richards.
He was taken ill when playing golf on 8th May and died peacefully on
21st May.
John was a long standing member of the Society and since his
retirement has played golf regularly - sometimes 3 or 4 time a week.
He will be sorely missed.
It is good to know that John's name will not be forgotten in the
history of the Society as he won a number of trophies during his
membership. His first was in 1987 when, with Vince Rossiter, he won
the Pepler Cup. Since then he won the DOE 25th in 2002, the Summer
Tankard in 2003 and the Robinson Bowl in 2006.
The Committee sent a letter of condolence to his
family and representatives attended his funeral on behalf of all members of
the Society. Also, we shall support a charity of his family's
choosing in 2012 in his memory.
